First Female General Manager Appointed at Greenhous Toyota
Posted:
There are more staff changes for Greenhous as another long-term employee switches roles within the Group to become the first female general manager. Julie Bates, who has been at the company for 28 years, has moved from her position as customer care manager to Toyota general manager for the Telford and Shrewsbury operations.

Starting in 1986, Julie began her Greenhous career in the Groups accounts office. She then moved through a number of roles including purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit controller before helping to set up car rental operations in Shrewsbury and Telford. Julie then took on the role of PA to the chief executive prior to returning to running the accounts office in Telford. She then worked on the Kerridge system project.

Five years ago, she set up the customer care department. Starting with a team of three, this has now grown to 10 after the takeover of W A Lewis in the summer. Dealing with customer enquiries, Service and MOT reminders, bookings, complaints and general advice has made this department fundamental to the success of Greenhous.

Julie began by talking about her most recent role. “Looking after customers has always been a top priority for Greenhous. That’s why helping to set up the customer care team was so important and to watch it grow has been rewarding.

“The team may have changed slightly over the years, but without the dedication and composure of the staff, the department wouldn’t be as strong as it is today and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of them.”

Dave Sullivan, franchise director at Greenhous, said “It is clear that Julie is a huge asset to the company after being a part of it for so long. She can adapt her skills to any job and that is why we knew she would be more than capable of taking on Toyota.

“She knows the company inside out which makes her indispensable to us. She did a great job with the customer care department and we hope this challenge will mark the start of a new chapter for Julie.”

Julie concluded “I am very much looking forward to working with the Toyota brand and taking my career in a different direction. As a customer care department, we deal with all manufacturers across the Group. Working with Toyota means I will get to focus specifically on one brand and this is what I am most excited about. “The brand itself is innovative, pushing the boundaries of technology with their hybrid range and forward thinking design. I am keen to get stuck into the new role, work with a new team and see where we can take Toyota within Greenhous.”
