The current managing director and transport director is David Bridges, the grandson of company founder, Anthony Bridges. David, together with waste management expert Richard Snape, operate Bridmin to the highest standards, whilst retaining the philosophy that the customer must always be their priority. The company will collect and dispose of liquid wastes from across the UK to registered recycling and reclamation companies.
The company is heavily involved in waste management and has taken on two new DAF XF tractor units from Greenhous Commercials in Willenhall on contract hire. These have been added to with two 66 plate ex-demonstrator XF‘s also from Greenhous to upgrade the fleet. Richard Snape views the DAF trucks as excellent vehicles for the drivers saying: “The fuel economy is truly excellent on these vehicles and we do a lot of stop- start working, rather than long haul motorway driving. The power of the engine relative to the weight of the tankers is impressive. Our drivers like the DAF XF as it has a very comfortable cab which we have had fitted with microwave ovens as they are out on the road from Monday to Friday. A happy driver is a productive driver!”
Bridmin collects non-hazardous liquid wastes from a variety of sources. Food waste is collected and taken to the Severn Trent Food Waste Digestion Plant at Coleshill in Birmingham where there are large digesters which convert the waste into methane gas, which is used to produce electricity.
Not a pretty thought, but human waste has to be collected and disposed of at large outdoor events, and Bridmin assists promoters to keep the toilets of such gatherings as the V Festivals, the Badminton Horse Trials and other major outdoor concert venues throughout the festival season, April to September. They even clean up after the London New Year’s Eve party by the Thames.
Industrial organisations have legal obligations that must be fulfilled when it comes to dealing with and disposing of effluent generated from manufacturing activities. In addition to being a market leading waste carrier, Bridmin are fully registered to transport and dispose of all waste types with the highest level of care and protection to the environment. They use the latest and most effective disposal techniques to deal with organisation’s industrial effluent disposal. Much industrial liquid waste is transported to Avonmouth for recycling.
Returning to the link with Greenhous Commercials, Richard reflects on the importance of the working relationship saying: “It is all about building trust and confidence in the supplier of our vehicles, and in Greenhous, and sales executive Stuart Gaunt, we have built a very good partnership. Stuart is very responsive and gets back quickly with any information we ask for. The two ex-demos were just what we needed at a good price, the timing was excellent. We have repair and maintenance contracts on our new and used DAF trucks and I have to say that the DAF Aid rescue service is the best I have seen.”
On behalf of Greenhous Commercials Stuart says: “Both David and Richard have been lovely to deal with and I hope these recent purchases are just the beginning of a long term relationship. It is fantastic to have open and honest communication with such excellent customers.”
