The directors of Station Couriers are Chris and Julie Woonlough and their daughter, Sian Jenkins. A special feature of their first new XF is that it is named after granddaughter, Ava Seren. A delighted Ava was the first to get up into the cab to excitedly pretend to be its driver. Station Couriers have now started a Facebook competition for those who identify the XF out on the road and post a photo of it.
Speaking on behalf of Station Couriers, Sian Jenkins emphasised the importance of growth to the family run business, saying: “The company was started by Chris with just one 7.5 tonne truck and 2 vans. We have continued to outgrow premises as the demand for our services has increased. Since 2013 we have operated from a unit on the Mochdre Industrial Estate in Newtown though we are looking to acquire an additional satellite depot.
“We have 55 staff so we are an important local employer and in-service training for the staff is highly important to us. As directors we reward the staff for their hard work with social events which we enjoy as much as they do. There is a real feeling of belonging. Also we support local causes that our staff have suggested, for example sponsoring local football teams and raising funds for charities.”
The new DAF XF from Greenhous is an addition to the current fleet which comprises 9 vans, 21 HGV trucks and 14 trailers. The focus is very much on new purchase from now on with a view to efficient fuel use, lower emissions and improved driver comfort and the new DAF truck range fulfil those criteria admirably. On order is 26 tonne truck which will be named “George”!
Station Couriers are members of three networks, namely Pallet Track, The Pallet Network and the Alternative Parcel Company. This ensures that they can provide a fully structured and monitored service for customers throughout the UK, Europe and worldwide. Their business has seen exceptional growth year on year and this has been reflected in investment, not only in the delivery stock, but also through website design, electronic billing and an on line customer portal system reducing paperwork and increasing time efficiencies.
“Ava Seren” is now taking pride of place at the head of the fleet and little Ava Jenkins is looking forward to her “show and tell” day at school when her fellow pupils will be amazed to see her new truck!
