Vauxhall is celebrating 2014 being its best ever year for retail sales with 127,398 cars sold to private buyers. Vauxhall was also the UK’s best-selling car manufacturer in December with sales of 23,162 and a market share of 14 per cent. The Corsa led the way as the UK’s best-selling car in December with 8,074 sold. New model launches, including the Corsa, Vivaro and ADAM Rocks Air helped the company achieve total sales of 301,796 cars and vans. 2014 also saw Vauxhall retain its position as the biggest-selling manufacturer in Scotland, with the Corsa supermini heralded as the top-selling car – both for the seventh consecutive year.
Richard Potts, Greenhous Vauxhall franchise director reflects on the continued success of Vauxhall in a competitive market place. “Innovative finance programmes have helped drive retail sales and many models are now available with great value PCPs. There has been a strategic focus on true fleet sales and this has led registrations increasing by ten per cent. Our Vauxhall Commercial Vehicle sales teams have seen increased interest and sales and the Vivaro van, which is built in Luton, celebrated its most successful year yet, with over 19,000 sold in 2014. The all-new Vivaro was introduced and it has exceeded Vauxhall’s previous launches with over 12,000 early orders.” The new Vauxhall Corsa has entered the market place just as news broke that the Corsa ended Ford’s longstanding status as the UK’s most popular car in December 2014 selling over 500 units more than its rival in the “supermini” category. The new Vauxhall Corsa advert reflects the great British way of life with a rapid flow of alphabet related images related to people’s road trips throughout the UK. Director of Brand Marketing, Chris Hawken, says the advert “heralds a new look for Vauxhall, and offers us the chance to create something that celebrates the energy and fun of Corsa in a nostalgic and distinctly British way”.
“The new Corsa has a fresh, modern look with many new technology options”, reveals Richard. “The new Corsa has the IntelliLink seven-inch touchscreen as standard on all except the entry-level trim. The suspension and steering components have been replaced producing a sharper, confident and comfortable driving experience. There are new 1.0 and 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engines. The new 1.0-litre three-cylinder is the star of the range available with either 90bhp or 115bhp.” Meanwhile, another of the Vauxhall models is continuing to impress as the ADAM Rocks Air takes on the likes of the Mini as a robust mini crossover.
Richard explains: “The Adam Rocks Air possesses larger wheels, more robust bumpers and wheel arch extensions and the ride height has been increased by a few inches. It has the excellent new 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine delivering 113bhp. This engine is a vast improvement on its petrol predecessors, with a performance you would expect from a larger engine. It is a lightweight, but powerful unit which accelerates quickly and pulls strongly through the gears, seldom needing to down shift from sixth on the motorway to overtake.”
At Greenhous the sales staff know that customers love designing their own ADAM. With over a million different design configurations on offer they can create a combination that will makes their ADAM completely unique. The ADAM is seen as Vauxhall’s fun city car. There are three trims: the funky and fashionable JAM, the head turning GLAM and the ‘born to be wild’ SLAM , the sporty version. There is something cool about owning a car that looks like no other on the road!
