The best bit is, it's all done for you, PureSense constantly works away in the background, scanning the road ahead, keeping you safe and enhancing the experience of driving a Vauxhall.

The Astra features the latest IntelliLux® Pixel lights, a leap forward in headlight technology that radically improves visibility. And its permanent glare-free high beams automatically adjust to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers.

The Extended Head-Up Display (E-HUD) projects essential information directly onto the windscreen, comfortably within the driver's field of vision. This latest generation E-HUD technology can be set to show different pages linked to the Instrument Panel, including pop-up alerts, incoming call and media information.

Adaptive cruise control uses the radar system to adjust the vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, up to the speed limit set. To overtake, the driver just has to pull out into an empty lane and the system will return the car to the set speed just like normal cruise control. Also with automatic models, the system also enables the car to follow the vehicle in front from a full stop when in a traffic jam. To restart just press the ‘resume’ button or use the accelerator. 

Great all round view. The Intelli-Vision activates automatically when you put the Astra into reverse, or when chosen by the driver. The system uses four cameras placed around the car. Switch between cameras to see any approaching cross-traffic and make parking in the trickiest spot easy. 

The Astra’s Keyless Entry & Start, paired with smart door handles, means you don’t have to break stride when starting a new journey. Simply slide in, press start and go. 

This system combines three of the Astra’s most technologically advanced features to give you command and control of your journey. Intelli-Drive 1.0 integrates Lane Positioning Assist (LPA), which gently corrects steering to help you stay between the lanes. Plus Lane Change Assist lets you know if another vehicle is quickly approaching you from behind or driving into your blind spot. And Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns you of anything approaching while you’re reversing from as far as 40 meters away.

The responsive 1.6 Turbo petrol engine delivers 180PS, working in harmony with an 81kw electric motor. And have the ability to travel up to 43 miles (WLTP - EAER) on a fully-charged battery.

Plug-in Hybrid technology maximises power and performance. And the smooth Efficient Automatic Transmission 8-speed (EAT8) delivers 360Nm of chunky torque.

-Breakdown call (b-call) - In the event of an accident or breakdown, your can rely on Vauxhall Connect with its own SIM card installed in your car or van. In the event of a serious accident, such as airbag inflated, an automatic message will go off to the emergency services with details of your location.

-Emergency call (SOS e-call) -  Press the button and you’ll be put straight through to the emergency services on the system’s integrated phone.

  • Convenience: The e-Remote Control service checks battery level, charge management and air-condition settings via the myVauxhall app.

Route guidance is shown on the Extended Head-Up Display (E-HUD), instrument cluster or centre touchscreen, whichever you prefer. The smart system will even follow your voice commands with the wake-up word of "Hey !". Connected navigation services include map updates and there’s an 8-speaker HiFi system. Send your destination to the car with your smartphone and the myVauxhall app or get last-mile guidance to complete your route from wherever you park.
