Ford Electric

Electric vehicles are proving to be ever more popular and Ford are launching a range of electric and hybrid models which will satisfy its desire to provide the customer with environmentally friendly, stylish and high performance vehicles.

Ford electric vehicles are easy to drive with an automatic transmission, quick off the mark and offer a smooth ride, taking all of the stress out of driving. With zero emissions, reduced road tax and relatively low charging costs per mile, electric vehicles are part of the future of motoring.

Ford are also offering a range of hybrid vehicle options. These vehicles have an internal combustion engine, but they also have a larger battery and more powerful motor. This provides more assistance to the engine and enables the vehicle to drive parts of short journeys at low speeds using the electric motor alone. Thanks to the conventional engine, this can help improve driving range. This is because the vehicle is capable of using both battery and the internal combustion engine.

In 2019 Ford released images of four new electrified vehicles in the All-New Puma (MHEV), All-New Kuga (PHEV), Transit Custom (PHEV) and New Transit (PHEV), these new models join the already popular Mondeo (MHEV) and with further models following it is a real exciting time for the Ford family.

Electrification Choices

Mild Hybrid (MHEV)

A small electric motor that helps improve efficiency. Mild Hybrid vehicles have two sources of power that work together – a conventional engine and a battery -driven electric motor. The electric motor does not power the car. It simply assists it.

Hybrid (HEV)

A seamless blend of conventional and electric power. Hybrid vehicles have two sources of power. They can automatically switch between conventional mode, pure electric mode (for short distances) or use both to power the vehicle as needed.

Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV)

Plug-In. Charge-Up. Improve Efficiency. Plug-in Hybrids have the two sources of power like a hybrid, but with a larger high voltage battery, enabling you to drive longer distances on all-electric power.

All-Electric (BEV)

0% Electric. Just charge it up and go. All-Electric cars are powered by electricity alone. This means they have to be charged before you can drive.
