Simon Shaw, Warehouse and Logistics Manager, says of the operation he leads: “For larger items often the only option is home delivery and at Alan Ward we have a fleet of trucks and Luton vans which will deliver regularly to destinations such as North Wales and Anglesey, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire, but also nationwide.
“We are replacing one of our delivery trucks with a new DAF LF 7.5 tonne Euro 6 truck from Greenhous Commercials in Shrewsbury. The truck has been fitted with a GRP Box Body and tail lift. We need the larger LF as some of the sofas in particular are getting larger and we transport them on their feet not stacked on end. A larger truck capacity means we can carry more loads and make more deliveries per day from one vehicle, fewer journeys and thus reducing our carbon footprint and impact on the environment”
“We have 5 qualified drivers for the trucks and the new LF will certainly offer an excellent driving experience. We are looking to upgrade all of our fleet in time with a potential for two more LF’s and we will replace our three Ford Transit Luton vans through Greenhous Commercials in September.”
On behalf of Greenhous, Liam Smith, Truck Sales Executive, says: “In my time at Greenhous DAF I have gone from being a technician working on Alan Ward vehicles, to booking the vehicles in for service and MOT, to having the pleasure of supplying a new vehicle to Alan Ward. Since I recently moved into sales this is my first rigid chassis order. Alan Ward have been a long term customer and we are delighted to continue the relationship supplying commercial vehicles and providing after sales service.”
