Hair-raising and fund-raising – Greenhous' Movember Mission
Two of the Greenhous Shrewsbury team are preparing for things to get wild and wilful this month as they become Mo Bros in aid of men’s cancer charities. Paul Smith and Mike Morley both began November – or Movember as its been re-dubbed by those changing the face of men’s health – clean-shaven, and will become walking, talking billboards for the cause for the rest of the month by sprouting impressive moustaches to raise awareness and funds for testicular and prostate cancer.

Movember started in Australia and since then has grown to global proportions as Mo Bros (and Mo Sistas) seek out sponsorship for their hirsuite finery throughout the 30 days of November. Not only do their words and actions raise awareness by encouraging conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health, but in 2010, 112,000 people in the UK took part, raising an impressive £11 million.

Paul and Mike said “The funds raised in the UK support the leading two male specific cancers - prostate and testicular cancer. We’re seeking sponsorship for our Movember efforts– and we’re in fierce competition with one another to outdo the other when it comes to luxuriant handlebar moustaches – and all funds raised will be given to programmes run directly by Movember, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.

“These teams work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of projects to aid awareness, research and treatment.

“We hope that as well as sparking a few conversations around what is traditionally a taboo subject – and probably a few sniggers at our farcical facial hair – we’ll help raise a decent sum for this very, very important cause. Men everywhere are more than aware of it and not one of us can afford to ignore it.” To pledge money to Mike and Paul, visit -
