Greenhous Group Invites Severndale Specialist Academy Students For Work Experience

Here at Greenhous Group, we have been proud to work with Severndale Specialist Academy over the past year, offering students from across the academy the chance to take part in work experience placements.

We have welcomed five classes from Severndale Academy to our Shrewsbury sites as part of a weekly work experience programme. Throughout this experience, students from the academy were able to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of departments within the business.

These work placements offered an invaluable opportunity for students to develop new skills and gain confidence with being in the workplace. One of the Severndale students who took part in the programme, Ethan, shared that his “visits to Greenhous Shrewsbury changed my view on the working world that I will be joining in the future. It was a positive experience."

This partnership will continue into its second year this September, and we at Greenhous would like to thank the students for their thoughtful artwork and kind feedback on their experience with us. The teams based at Greenhous in Shrewsbury were pleased to be able to offer the students the opportunity to learn more about the business, and it is looking forward to welcoming both returning and new students again in the future.

The business spans fleet services, car and van franchises, used vehicle retail, refurbishment services and commercial vehicle operations, making it a major presence in the UK automotive sector.

About Severndale Specialist Academy: Severndale Specialist Academy was established in September 1995 following the reorganisation of provision for children with special educational needs in Shropshire. In September 2008, a large-scale development was completed at the site on the Monkmoor Campus. In September 2011 a second provision based at Mary Webb School and Science College opened to cater for secondary aged pupils with moderate learning difficulties. In November 2014, the Futures provision in conjunction with Shrewsbury College started to provide work related learning for the students.

Children and young people at Severndale are aged 2.5 to 25 and have a range of learning difficulties. These include moderate, severe, complex and profound learning difficulties, those with autism, complex medical conditions and physical and mobility difficulties.

The vision at Severndale Specialist Academy is to ensure that the needs of all young people are ‘truly met’. They strive to ensure pupils leave Severndale as independent as they can be, and ready to access ‘life beyond the school’. The academy focusses on developing quality interactions, relationships and supporting positive communication, as well as providing high-quality learning experiences in a dynamic, creative, enjoyable and safe environment.
